Moviegoers and snack enthusiasts nationwide got a new reason to celebrate this January as Cinemark Theatres rolled out its second-ever “Bring Your Own Bucket” (BYOBucket) promotion in honor of National Popcorn Day. Running on January 18-19, 2025, the event invites guests to get creative with their containers and get them filled with freshly popped popcorn for just $5.

What Is the BYOBucket Cinemark Promotion?

For two days only, Cinemark invites patrons to bring any clean container of their choice, such as a reusable bucket, tote, bowl, or other vessel. Cinemark will fill it to the brim with popcorn for a flat $5 fee. The catch? Containers had to hold 400 ounces or less (about the size of two XL popcorns) and be clean and food-safe. No ticket purchase was required to participate in the offer.

David Haywood, Senior Vice President of Food & Beverage at Cinemark, said, “Popcorn has always been the star of movie theater concessions, though popcorn vessels have become an award-worthy supporting actor.”

The Big Picture

National Popcorn Day, observed each year on January 19, celebrates one of moviegoing’s most iconic treats, popcorn. It has become an opportunity for theaters and fans to embrace the snack in fun and creative ways. Universal Orlando Resort visitors can test this out at the Universal CityWalk Orlando Cinemark location.
