Flavors of Florida: Key Lime Ice Box Pie

We visited Gideon’s Bakehouse to try one of its Flavors of Florida menu items. The Key Lime Ice Box Pie costs $10. It consists of layers of key lime curd with a key lime cream filling and graham cracker crust.
This tasty treat faces one major issue. This Flavors of Florida dessert fulfills the assignment of being full of citrus and Florida flavors. However, it will not survive well in the Florida heat and does not hold up overnight, based on our conversations with colleagues.

Despite that, this treat provides excellent flavor. It offers the texture expected of an icebox pie. The key lime custard shines with this treat. The graham cracker crust pairs well with the pie. Still, it can be a challenge to eat with the rest of the pie without making a mess. The key lime flavor mixed within this pie works very well. Fans of key lime will get enough of that distinct flavor. However, people who are less excited about key lime will not be overwhelmed by it.

This Key Lime Ice Box Pie makes a fabulous option for Flavors of Florida at Gideon’s Bakehouse. However, guests can question whether ten dollars is a reasonable value for this robustly flavored but small treat.
