As June comes to a close, Walt Disney World Resort announced some short-term attraction refurbishments, and one attraction reopened. These changes are at Magic Kingdom and Epcot.

Astro Orbiter at Magic Kingdom has reopened following an almost six-month refurbishment. During this refurbishment, virtually every part of the structure received an overhaul and reinstallation.

Refurbishments at Walt Disney World

Walt Disney World

Spaceship Earth at Epcot will close for routine refurbishment beginning August 25 and is scheduled to reopen later this year. Even though Spaceship Earth was supposed to undergo a major refurbishment back in 2019-2020, that did not happen. This looks to be a basic process with no major ride changes.

Additionally, Magic Kingdom may have gotten back Astro Orbiter, another attraction will close for a short refurbishment. Under the Sea – Journey of The Little Mermaid will close for routine refurbishment on July 21 and is set to reopen on July 26.

Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin will close for refurbishment starting August 4 for the addition of a new show scene, updated vehicles, and other enhancements. It will reopen next year. The last day to ride the current version to max out your score is August 3. Guests can expect new fun with more options to shoot when this attraction reopens.

Test Track Reopening Date – July 22

As a reminder, Test Track reopens for all guests on July 22. Cast member previews started today at Epcot. We expect annual pass previews to happen before the July 22 opening date.
