Walt Disney World confirms the Muppets Disney coaster will debut in 2026, transforming the iconic Rock ’N’ Roller Coaster on Sunset Blvd.

Muppets Disney Coaster

On the last day for MuppetVision 3D, Walt Disney World announced an opening timeframe for the Muppet takeover of Rock ’N’ Roller Coaster. Using Kermit to announce it, Disney Parks stated, “Hi Ho everyone! @TheMuppets are packing up and moving to Sunset Blvd for their first ever coaster! Grab your guitar (or banjo) because Rock ’N’ Roller Coaster Starring @TheMuppets speeds into Disney’s Hollywood Studios in 2026!

We still do not have much of a timeframe for the Aerosmith aspect of Rock ’N’ Roller Coaster to go away. Still, based on this announcement and the opening year for Rock ’N’ Roller Coaster Starring the Muppets, we expect the refurbishment to start right in early 2026 based on previous reports from Walt Disney World.

This quick turnaround indicates that not much is going to change with the Rock ’N’ Roller Coaster attraction, except adding the Muppets. There is probably not much to demolish. Additionally, a completely new setup will not be necessary. The roller coaster layout should remain the same, with many of its original features intact. Guests should expect only slight changes with the ride vehicles. In fact, this might be a relatively quick retheming, involving only the addition of a new pre-show, queue tune-up and a gift shop overhaul.

However, with the Muppets, Walt Disney World imagineers have plenty of concepts, props, amnd other content to work with. For more theme park-related news and information, visit MSM News.
