A local favorite table service restaurant lies at Disney Springs at Walt Disney World, where magic meets modern shopping and dining. It looks like it has been lifted straight out of the “South” and lovingly placed into Florida’s most iconic entertainment complex: Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin’. Known for its rich Southern comfort food, warm hospitality, and farm-fresh ingredients, Homecomin’ has also become a staple for Walt Disney World visitors craving a hearty, feel-good meal. We enjoy lunch and dinner here. However, the weekend brunch shows off the place’s Southern style.

Brunch at Homecomin’ isn’t just a meal. It is a celebration of regional cuisine and heartfelt cooking, curated by none other than Chef Art Smith himself. In addition, he is a James Beard award-winning chef, former personal chef to Oprah Winfrey, and a proud Floridian with deep Southern roots. In a place where culinary experiences are elevated to an art form, Homecomin’ sets itself apart with a brunch menu that’s bold, soulful, and deeply satisfying.

Brunch at Homecomin’ Disney Springs: Rustic Charm Meets Florida Chic

Brucnh at Homecomin'

When you step into Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin’, you are encased in a warm, rustic aesthetic that feels more like an upscale country home than a bustling Disney Springs restaurant. The building functions as a nod to Florida’s agricultural heritage, featuring reclaimed wood, vintage-style lighting, and mason jar chandeliers. The porch seating also works perfectly for sipping sweet tea or a moonshine cocktail.

Why Homecomin’?

Brunch at Homecomin'

The restaurant’s name, Homecomin’, is more than just branding. It serves as a tribute to Smith’s return to his roots. Every element, from the design to the menu, reflects a reverence for Southern culture, slow-cooked traditions, and family-style hospitality. Whether dining indoors or on the outdoor patio overlooking the water, the space invites relaxation, conversation, and indulgence.

The crowd consists of a mix of families, couples, Walt Disney World enthusiasts, and foodies. They all gathered for one thing: Southern food done right. Chef Art Smith’s brunch menu showcases Southern culinary traditions with a few contemporary flourishes. However, it is familiar and inventive, a greatest-hits collection of fried chicken, biscuits, eggs, and grits. Of course, guests find a few surprises along the way. Some of the brunch menu highlights include:

  • Hallelujah Biscuit – This towering marvel features a fresh buttermilk biscuit, topped with crispy fried chicken, two over-easy eggs, pimento cheese, and pecan-smoked bacon, all drizzled with sawmill gravy. The biscuit is flaky yet substantial, the chicken perfectly seasoned and crunchy, and the gravy ties everything together in a creamy embrace. Every bite is a symphony of textures and flavors, rich, salty, savory, and just a little bit spicy from the pimento cheese.
  • Fried Chicken & Doughnuts – Though this is on the lunch and dinner menu, the Fried Chicken & Doughnuts feel just right for brunch. This twist on the classic chicken and waffles combines Chef Art’s famous buttermilk-brined fried chicken with house-made sugar doughnuts. Served with a side of creamy mashed potatoes and drizzled with warm, house-made syrup, it is sweet, salty, and undeniably indulgent.
  • Short Rib Hash – This brunch item hit the menu in early February 2025. It delivers for those who like their brunch with a meaty punch. Tender, slow-braised beef short rib is served over crispy hash browns and topped with a perfectly poached egg and hollandaise. It’s hearty, flavorful, and an excellent choice for guests who want something a little less traditional. The balance between the meat’s richness and the egg yolk’s brightness is perfect. Also, the dish makes a pretty picture for the eyes and the taste buds.
  • Fried Egg & Avocado Toast – This works as avocado toast with a Southern twist. At Homecomin’, it is served on thick-cut multigrain bread with smashed avocado, cherry tomatoes, pickled onions, arugula, and a drizzle of hot sauce-infused vinaigrette. It is also a refreshing counterpoint to the heavier offerings and a great choice for vegetarians or those looking for something lighter.

Brunch at Homecomin’: Disney Springs Brunch Beverages

For many visitors to Homecomin’ Disney Springs, they ask: “What’s brunch without a bit of booze? At Homecomin’, the drink menu is as thoughtfully crafted as the food. The restaurant is famous for its moonshine cocktails, many available in brunch-friendly forms.

The Ingredients: Farm Fresh and Florida Proud

One key reason Homecomin’ stands out is its commitment to locally sourced, farm-fresh ingredients. Chef Art Smith is a staunch advocate for sustainable farming and collaborates with Florida growers and artisans to source the best produce, meats, and dairy.

The chicken is brined for 24 hours, the eggs are cage-free, and the vegetables are seasonal and locally grown whenever possible. This dedication to quality is evident in every bite and elevates the entire dining experience.

The Service: Southern Hospitality at Its Best

Great food can make a meal memorable, but excellent service turns it into an experience. The staff at Homecomin’ exemplifies the warmth and attentiveness that define Southern hospitality. Servers are friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about the menu. Many are happy to share recommendations or insider tips about Chef Art and the restaurant’s history.

Of course, they also have that Southern charm, so things might take a little longer. If you dine at Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin’ Disney Springs, you should not expect your experience to be quick, since it takes time.

Even when the restaurant is at capacity (which is often), the team moves with grace and efficiency, ensuring that each guest feels welcome and taken care of. It is the kind of place where you are greeted with a smile and leave feeling like family.

How Was Our Brunch at Homecomin’ Visit?

We arrived for brunch at Homecomin’ around 10:30 a.m. for our advance dining reservation. We checked in and were told that we would receive a text when our table was ready. Our name was called for a table at around 10:40 a.m. However, we never received a text notification. This can happen, so do not wander too far away once you check in. Ironicvally, we received a text an hour later saying that we should hold onto our phone and they would get a text when our table was ready.

Blueberry Buckle

We started our meal with an appetizer from brunch at Homecomin’. The Blueberry Buckle, added to the menu earlier this year, is the only brunch appetizer option unavailable for lunch and dinner. It costs $18. The menu description reads, “Our house made blueberry coffee cake topped with vanilla glaze and garnished with fresh berries and mint.

This qualifies as a sweet treat. Guests receive four pieces to share, if you do that sort of thing. Previously, we found this brunch at Homecomin’ item very sweet. This time, it tasted less sweet but was still very enjoyable. We suggest you check if you get more glaze on the side. It does elevate it, but beware of the sweetness. On this visit, we learned that the Blueberry Buckle pairs well with the cold brew at Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin’

Brunch at Homecomin’ Entrees

Grand-Daddy Plate Photo by Jon Self

We ordered the Grand-Daddy Plae and the Ultimate Breakfast Sandwich for our entrees. Both provide the excellent quality and portion size you would expect at Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin’. The Grand-Daddy Plate takes all the standard breakfast goodness you expect. It costs $25. it consists of “Three eggs any style, pecan-smoked bacon, griddled country ham, cheddar cheese drop biscuit and Bradley’s grits.” Guests also receive a side of fruit to balance the entire entree. Guests will enjoy the country flavors and not leave hungry after eating this.

Ultimate Breakfast Sandwich

The Ultimate Breakfast Sandwich also provides country flavor with Homecomin’ style. It costs $20. The menu description reads, “A perfectly fried egg atop a maple pork sausage patty, crispy bacon and griddled country ham. Topped with melted pimento cheese, tomato bacon jam and served on
toasted sourdough with a side of cheesy grits.”

Though we suggest not eating this like a sandwich, guests will find a savory and sweet combination with this brunch at Homecomin’ entree. The entree will demand a fork. The pimento cheese pairs well with the sausage. The sausage presented a more powerful peppery flavor during this visit than on previous visits. Still, all the components work nicely with each other. The sourdough bread functions as a type of palate cleanser so that your next bite can taste as wonderful as the first.

Like with almost all entrees at Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin, guests can substitute sides if the one listed in the menu description does not suit their needs. Also, like all Walt Disney World table service restaurants, dietary concerns are handled masterfully.

Brunch at Homecomin’ serves as a relaxing time. We spent almost an hour and a half dining. In fairness, we chatted with the staff about menu changes, the restaurant industry, and other subjects that most guests will not do. Overall, we enjoyed our brunch at Homecomin’ as usual.
