The world of Dark Universe offers many highly themed food and beverage options for guests to enjoy while at Universal Epic Universe. The Burning Blade Tavern reflects this with several unique beverages and well-themed snacks. The Hunter’s Garlic Stake at the Burning Blade serves as a fine example.
The Hunter’s Garlic Stake costs $8.99 and consists of a “Crispy garlic butter pretzel with garlic dipping sauce.” Guests will order this vampire killer snack outside at the window of the Burning Blade Tavern, not in the main bar area, which has some outside seating. The outside window is to the right of the bar. Guests do not need to enter the indoor bar to pick up their items. They can also place a mobile order here, which we suggest.
We ordered this and rebelliously took it inside Das Steakhaus, where we had the “Blood” Orange Chicken Sandwich. No vampires complained about our decision, though we got odd looks. Of course, what could be better to eat when warding off a Dark Universe vampire than a garlic stake?
The appearance and overall presentation of the Hunter’s Garlic Stake work perfectly. Since the Burning Blade Tavern has a backstory of where monster hunters go to meet and tell stories of their success, this snack fits that theme.

So, how did it taste? Theme park pretzels do not have the best reputation, so we had concerns. Despite our initial concerns, this garlic pretzel snack provides above-average flavor. The garlic functions as noticeable but not overwhelming. In our experience, the pretzel avoids the dryness factor compared to many other theme park pretzels.
On the negative side, this pretzel is designed to be crispy for the Dark Universe theme. The word “crispy” is in the menu description. Some guests may find the crispy exterior undesirable in a theme park pretzel.
