Universal Orlando Resort announced annual passholder perks from May 1 to 22. Passholders can enjoy exclusive dining, hotel discounts, free magnets, BOGO drinks, and more. Voodoo Doughnut at Universal CityWalk Orlando usually creates a passholder donut when Universal Orlando Resort runs passholder promotions in May and mid-August through September. That pattern continued with the latest passholder promotion. Thus, we needed to try the special donut.

Voodoo Doughnut at Universal CityWalk Orlando is a quirky and colorful doughnut shop known for its outrageous creations and eccentric atmosphere. Originating in Portland, Oregon, the brand has built a cult following with its bold flavors, offbeat vibe, and irreverent sense of humor. The Orlando location carries on that tradition, offering a wide variety of unique doughnuts with whimsical names like the Bacon Maple Bar, Voodoo Doll, and Grape Ape. The interior is decorated with pop art flair and signature pink boxes stack up behind the counter, making it a photogenic favorite among visitors.

Open late and located just steps from the entrance to Universal Studios Florida, it’s a perfect pit stop for park-goers looking for a sweet treat. Vegan options are available, and the doughnuts range from classic glazed to wild, candy-topped concoctions. Voodoo Doughnut isn’t just a place to grab a snack. It is part of the Universal CityWalk experience, offering locals and tourists a taste of something different. It’s weird, it’s wonderful, and it’s undeniably one of CityWalk’s most distinctive stops.

Sweet and Salty Crunch Doughnut – $4.50

Sweet and Salty Crunch Donut

This passholder-only doughnut at Voodoo Doughnut consists of a doughnut dipped in Nutella, topped with chocolate hazelnut icing, caramel sauce, Maldon salt, and sugar sprinkles. We were unsure what to expect from this doughnut with Nutella and hazelnut icing.

Our first reaction to this Sweet and Salty Crunch Doughnut was concern about its messiness. That concern quickly proved warranted, as we found ourselves with plenty of Nutella on our fingers. That stands as an important detail since we were using a fork and a knife to eat it. In a video we made about this doughnut, evidence of this looked apparent. In addition, the doughnut coating started to melt quickly when it was only 82 degrees Fahrenheit.

Sweet and Salty Crunch Doughnut

The Sweet and Salty Crunch Doughnut itself offered exactly what the menu description claimed. Fans of hazelnuts will enjoy this doughnut. This doughnut looked larger than the usual doughnuts at Voodoo Doughnut. However, it is not as large as the ones at Everglazed Donuts at Disney Springs. This yeast-raised doughnut worked very well Voodoo Doughnut at Universal CityWalk Orlando. Still, this place sometimes struggles with the yeast-raised style doughnuts.

After our initial bite, we found the doughnut unremarkable. It provides the sweet component but lacks the salty aspect. The candy sprinkles get overwhelmed by the hazelnut flavors. Despite that, this makes a quality option to order. There is nothing really wrong with this doughnut. Still, unless you are a huge hazelnut fan, this will not become your favorite limited-time doughnut at Voodoo Doughnut.
