We tried the new Dumplings Trio at China Global Marketplace 2026, plus the China Pavilion’s history and the full menu for the Epcot Food & Wine Festival.

Not every dish at Epcot Food and Wine gets to be a headline. For every amazing festival dish that stops you in your tracks, there is a dish quietly doing its job at a booth you walk past without much thought. On opening day of the Epcot Food & Wine Festival, that is exactly where we landed with the new Dumplings Trio at China. We tried it on opening day of the 2026 festival, and below you will find the review, along with the basics of visiting, some genuinely fascinating pavilion history, and a full rundown of the rest of the China menu this year.

The China Global Marketplace 2026 Basics

• Location: World Showcase, in the China Pavilion between Norway and Germany
• Dates: Open for the full run of the 2026 Epcot International Food & Wine Festival, August 27 through November 21
• Ordering: Walk-up counter service at the festival kiosk out front of the pavilion along the walkway, separate from the sit-down Nine Dragons Restaurant and the quick-service Lotus Blossom Café inside
• Seating: Limited standing counters near the booth. For actual seating, the benches around the pavilion’s lotus pool are shaded and pleasant, just do not expect table service
• Snack credits: The Dumplings Trio is eligible on the Disney Dining Plan
• While you are there: Reflections of China, the pavilion’s Circle-Vision 360 film, runs on a loop inside the Temple of Heaven replica and is a genuinely nice air conditioned break between booths

A Little China Pavilion history

The China Pavilion opened with the rest of Epcot on October 1, 1982, and it remains one of the most architecturally detailed corners of World Showcase. Guests enter through the triple-arched Gate of the Golden Sun before reaching the pavilion’s centerpiece, a half-scale replica of the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests from Beijing’s Temple of Heaven complex, a real UNESCO World Heritage Site. The building’s Circle-Vision 360 theater originally showed Wonders of China, a nineteen minute travelogue that took years of negotiation to film, since China was only beginning to open to Western visitors and film crews when Epcot was under construction in the late 1970s.

That film ran from opening day until 2003, when it was replaced by Reflections of China, a shorter update that folded in new footage of Hong Kong and Macau alongside classic Wonders of China visuals, narrated by an actor playing the Tang Dynasty poet Li Bai. This shorter update The pavilion’s gardens, footbridges, and lotus pool are modeled after traditional Chinese garden design, and it is genuinely one of the more peaceful corners of World Showcase to wander through between snack stops, dumplings included.

• Smoked Duck Bao Bun ($8.25), a returning favorite with pickled cucumber, scallion, and hoisin sauce
• Beijing Zhajiang Noodles ($8.50), new for 2026, with stir-fried minced beef, cucumber, chili, and carrots in a savory douban sauce

• Baijiu Punch ($14.25), baijiu spirit, lychee syrup, soda water, and piña colada mix
• Hainan Prosperity ($14.25), tequila, vodka, Minute Maid orange juice, and mango syrup
• Frozen Strawberry-Jasmine Cocktail, light rum, jasmine tea, and strawberry syrup
• Mango-Peach Bubble Tea ($7.95), green tea, mango and peach syrups, and white boba, non-alcoholic
• Honghe Rice Lager Draft Beer ($6.00 to $10.75)

Review: Dumplings Trio

$7.35, a 30th Anniversary Legacy Item, originally introduced in 1996

For 2026, China took its long-running Chicken Dumplings, gave it a promotion, and sent it out into the world with two new friends. The Dumplings Trio is exactly what it sounds like: one pan-fried chicken dumpling, one pork, and one vegetable, all served with the same house-made sweet-and-spicy sauce that has been sitting in that spot on the menu since roughly the Clinton administration.

We ate all three on opening day, and here is the thing. They were fine. Genuinely, unremarkably, committee-approved fine. The wrappers were pan-fried, crisp on the bottom without turning greasy, which is not nothing. The chicken dumpling tasted like chicken (sort of). The pork dumpling tasted like pork (sort of). Yes, the vegetable dumpling tasted like vegetables that had agreed among themselves not to cause any trouble. Nothing was undercooked, nothing was cold, and nothing needed to be sent back. They just disappointing at an event with far better dumplings already…looking at you Gyozas of the Galaxy! The Dumplings Trip are disappointing like a parent when their child comes home late or bring home a bad grade. It happens, but no one likes it really!

The sweet-and-spicy sauce does some of the work on the plate, and even it plays it safe: sweet up front, with a mild warmth that fades before it ever asks anything of you. If you have had festival dumplings anywhere in the last decade, you already know what these taste like, because they taste like festival dumplings. That is not an insult so much as a description. This is the culinary equivalent of a beige waiting room. They are gone from memory by the time you reach the Germany pavilion, hopefully!

They Should Try Again at the China Global Marketplace 2026 at Epcot’s Food & Wine Festival

To be fair to China, turning one solid but unexciting chicken dumpling into a trio with two more proteins is a reasonable way to freshen up a legacy item without breaking what already worked, and from a value standpoint, three dumplings for $7.35 is not a bad deal by 2026 festival pricing standards. We just cannot, in good conscience, tell you this is a priority. It is a snack you will finish, nod about, and hopefully forget you ordered immediately. However, for some guests, this will be a hard pass. The flavors will not work for them.

The Dumplings Trio is not bad. It is clearly not good either. It exists in the wide, comfortable middle ground of festival food, the dish equivalent of small talk about the weather. If you happen to be standing in China deciding what to order, try the other items on the China Global Marketplace 2026 menu or go somewhere else. The Dumplings Trio will not be the thing you tell your friends about later. Well, unless you tell them to avoid them! Save your real excitement for a booth with something to prove.
