Spooky season in Central Florida is officially gearing up, and SeaWorld Orlando is turning up the heat, and the horror. We recently attended an exclusive “Scream & Sweat” media event hosted at the Nautilus Theater, where SeaWorld unveiled the newest icon for Howl-O-Scream: Pestilence.
Pestilence Howl-O-Scream Orlando: The Ex of Havoc

As if the master of mayhem, Havoc, wasn’t enough trouble on his own, his scary ex-partner has arrived to stake her claim on the park’s nightmares. During the interactive 90s-style fitness workout presentation, Havoc was confronted on stage by Pestilence herself, establishing her dominant, menacing presence for this year’s event roster.
Along with getting an up-close look at characters representing this year’s scare zones and houses, including Jack from Monster Stomp and the vengeful Fisherman, we got a taste of specialty event foods like the Highway Havoc bacon mac and cheese dog and themed pretzels.
The Lore of Pestilence Howl-O-Scream Orlando: From Heartbreak to Infection
SeaWorld Orlando has shared the chilling backstory behind this new icon. Long before becoming synonymous with decay, Pestilence traveled with Havoc during the early days of his rise. While Havoc was fueled by brute ambition and destruction, Pestilence was calculated and strategic. When Havoc chose to leave her behind to cement his own reign over Howl-O-Scream Orlando, she retreated into the shadows.
Her transformation took root in Nekrosis, a forgotten fishing town trapped at the end of the 20th century in 1999. In Nekrosis, Pestilence weaponized nostalgia, outdated technology, and decaying memories to cultivate a spreading biological and emotional rot. Now, guests will enter Howl-O-Scream Orlando through Nekrosis and act as unwitting hosts, carrying her infection across the park. Her ultimate destination is the Throttle show, where she plans to force Havoc to finally face the consequences of the past he abandoned.
The 2026 Haunted House Roster
Pestilence enters the fold alongside an impressive lineup of immersive haunted houses designed to test every horror fan’s nerves:
- The Dark Net: Step into a decaying cyberpunk metropolis crippled by an energy crisis, where desperate cybernetic predators turn to human blood as their ultimate fuel source.
- The Crawl Space: Enter a claustrophobic subterranean nightmare. After a broken fence leads guests into forgotten city tunnels, they quickly discover an abandoned containment failure that has grown into something far larger and hungrier.
- I Know What You Did Last Summer: The Final Catch: Brought to life in partnership with Sony Pictures, this house lets guests step beyond the screen into iconic scenes from the 1997 slasher classic, hunted by the hook-wielding Fisherman across the Southport massacre.
- Everything Must Stay: A paranormal walkthrough through a suburban home on the market where living dolls demand that everything—and everyone—remains trapped inside.
- Rave Yard returns for the 2026 Howl-O-Scream event. We hope for a better version this year.
Basic Information Guests Need Before Attending
If you are planning your trip to face Pestilence and the rest of the horde at Howl-O-Scream Orlando, here is what you need to know before you go:
- Event Dates: Howl-O-Scream Orlando returns on select nights starting September 11 and runs through October 31 (operating primarily on Friday and Saturday nights, plus select Thursdays and Sundays).
- Event Hours: The event officially begins at 7:00 PM and runs late into the night.
- Separate Ticket Required: Howl-O-Scream is a separately ticketed nighttime event. Daytime park admission to SeaWorld Orlando does not include access to Howl-O-Scream, though special event upgrades and Pass Member discounts are available.
- Nighttime Coaster Rides: In addition to five haunted houses, six scare zones, and live shows like Monster Stomp, guests can ride SeaWorld’s world-class thrill coasters in complete darkness.
- Event Content Notice: Howl-O-Scream contains intense adult themes, visual gore, and dark environments. It is intended for a mature audience and is not recommended for young children. Costumes are strictly prohibited for guests to ensure safety and clear distinction from scareactors.
