Star Wars fans can now link their Smugglers Run Fortnite missions between theme parks and home gaming starting August 16, 2026.
If you’ve ever stepped off Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge wishing your adventure could keep going, or hoped to join Hondo on a new mission beyond Batuu, there is some very good news for you. Announced today during D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event presented by Visa, Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run | Fortnite is a first-of-its-kind experience that connects the attraction at Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort with an all-new Star Wars adventure called Smugglers Gambit. Yes, that means what happens aboard the Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run can continue beyond Batuu, or start on planet Ord Ryla in Fortnite.
Smugglers Run Fortnite: Connecting Physical Disney Parks to Digital Gaming
During a conversation on the Walt Disney Imagineering Center Stage, Ray Gresko, SVP and Head of Product & Development for Disney Games and Digital Entertainment, and Asa Kalama, Executive of Creative & Interactive Experiences at Walt Disney Imagineering, shared insights into the use of Unreal Engine 5 to enable ride customization and discussed the creative collaboration with Lucasfilm that led to the in-house development of Smugglers Gambit in Fortnite.
Joined by host Ashley Eckstein, they highlighted how Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run | Fortnite serves as an early example of connecting the physical world of a Disney experience with the digital world of Fortnite, creating new opportunities for guests to interact with and engage across both experiences in deeper and more immersive ways.
It could start when you’re climbing into the cockpit of the Millennium Falcon. Or it could start while exploring this brand-new corner of the Star Wars galaxy in Fortnite. Either way, the adventure with Hondo now moves from the queue to your screen at home, or back again.
During your smuggling run, you’ll help collect crates for Hondo. Those crates can unlock rewards that carries over into Fortnite, allowing your story to continue after you’ve stepped off the Falcon.
Explore Planet Ord Ryla in Smugglers Gambit
At the center of it all is Smugglers Gambit, a brand-new Fortnite island developed in-house by Disney Games and Digital Entertainment. Set around Mersa Veta Station on the planet Ord Ryla, the experience puts players right in the middle of the kind of risky business Hondo seems to specialize in.
You’ll team up with friends, take on co-op missions, battle pirates and Imperial remnants, encounter dangerous wildlife, unlock new gear, and build your reputation across the Outer Rim. Since this is Hondo we’re talking about, there are plenty of opportunities for things to go wonderfully right… or spectacularly wrong.
Disney Games worked closely with Lucasfilm to create new characters, locations, and stories that feel right at home in the Star Wars galaxy while also collaborating with Walt Disney Imagineering, connecting back to the adventure guests experience aboard Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run.
Smugglers Run Fortnite Launch Date & How to Accept the Mission
Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run | Fortnite launches Sunday, August 16, 2026, when the park opens at Disneyland Park in Anaheim, California, and Disney’s Hollywood Studios near Orlando, Florida. Smugglers Gambit will go live in Fortnite the same day. The experience is included at no additional cost with valid theme park admission.
To take part, accept the special mission while in the attraction queue using the Disneyland app or the My Disney Experience app, or in the Smugglers Gambit island in Fortnite. Any guest who is logged into their Disneyland or My Disney Experience app may accept the mission.
To claim post-ride rewards in Fortnite, including a Forsworn Trooper Outfit, eligible guests need to link a MyDisney account with an Epic Games account, or have previously linked their MyDisney account with an Epic Games account. Guests who ride but are not eligible to link their accounts will instead redeem a code in Fortnite to receive their reward. Fortnite is free to download on PC, console, and mobile devices.
