Frozen 3 D23 Reveal: Release Date, New Looks, and Royal Wedding Plot

Frozen 3 D23 reveals a Nov. 24, 2027 release date, new looks for Anna and Elsa, and a royal wedding storyline. Here’s everything Disney announced.
After what has felt like several ice ages of waiting, Disney finally cracked open the vault on Frozen 3 at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event in Anaheim this week, and Arendelle’s royal family has some news of its own. Anna is getting married, Elsa’s closet just got a serious upgrade, and there’s apparently a new member of the royal family on the way. Here’s everything Disney Animation shared on the show floor and during the Disney Entertainment Showcase.
Mark Your Calendars: Frozen 3 Arrives November 24, 2027
Frozen 3 is officially set to hit theaters on Wednesday, November 24, 2027, the day before Thanksgiving, which feels like a very intentional bit of counter-programming against whatever turkey-adjacent chaos your family has planned that week. Disney had previously only committed to a general “Fall 2027” window, so it’s nice to finally have a date to circle.
Frozen 3 D23: New Looks for Anna, Elsa, Kristoff, Olaf, and Sven

The showpiece of the D23 display was a first look at the returning cast in their new wardrobes, and animators clearly didn’t want anyone mistaking this for a rerun. Elsa trades her iconic icy blue gown for a sparkly, bluish-purple number with diamond crystals cascading down the skirt. She is still recognizably the Snow Queen, but dressed for a different occasion. Anna, meanwhile, is in a pink, flower-adorned dress, and both sisters are layered up in cloaks and boots (Elsa in blue, Anna in green), which tracks if this movie is spending real time outdoors again.
Olaf, Kristoff, and Sven all showed up dressed considerably more formally than we’re used to seeing them. This serves as a strong hint that a certain ice harvester and princess might finally be making it official.
The Plot: A Royal Wedding, a Honeymoon, and a New Arrival
Disney also finally lifted the curtain on story details. The film centers on the wedding of Anna and Kristoff, described in the official synopsis as “the wedding of the century in Arendelle,” after which Anna joins Elsa on a new journey filled with unknown challenges. During the Entertainment Showcase, Idina Menzel and Kristen Bell appeared together to tease the story further, confirming Anna and Kristoff’s wedding and honeymoon will factor into the plot, and dropping a hint that Olaf might be getting a love interest of his own. Based on an interview with Jared Bush, it sounds like we are getting more Kristoff for Frozen 3.
The bigger bombshell, though, came from the official synopsis itself: “the royal family is about to welcome a mysterious new member.” Disney hasn’t clarified whether that means an addition to Anna and Kristoff’s family, a new character entering Arendelle’s orbit, or something stranger entirely — but expect fan theories to run wild between now and next fall.
Frozen 3 D23: What We Still Don’t Know
No trailer accompanied the reveal, and Disney has stayed quiet on specifics like the film’s villain, its musical numbers, or exactly how it ties into the previously teased two-part finale for the franchise. Given how much ground Frozen 2 left uncovered, including who gave Elsa her powers and what really happened to Hans, there’s clearly more to come before Frozen 3 arrives in theaters in November 2027.
