Queen of Hearts Tart Review: Sour Cherry Comes to Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party 2026

We tried the Queen of Hearts Tart with sour cherry filling at Magic Kingdom. What did we think of this new Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party 2026 snack?
Every Halloween season at Magic Kingdom brings its own crop of villain-themed snacks, and 2026’s most photogenic newcomer belongs to the queen who never met a rule she didn’t want to break. The Queen of Hearts Tart, filled with sour cherry pie filling, is the new dessert anchoring the Fantasyland snack lineup this fall, and we made it a point to grab one at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party.
Queen of Hearts Tart: Where to Find It

Located at the edge of Fantasyland in Magic Kingdom, Cheshire Café is a fairytale cottage-style quick-service kiosk inspired by Alice in Wonderland. It is best known for serving colorful slushies, coffee, savory pretzels, and the iconic Cheshire Cat Tail, a warm, chocolate-filled pastry drizzled with pink and purple icing.
The Queen of Hearts Tart lives at Cheshire Café in Fantasyland during regular daytime park hours. However, it will only be available during the Halloween season window (August 7 through October 31, 2026). On party nights, Cheshire Café closes down along with other daytime-only locations. Still, Walt Disney World made sure trick-or-treaters wouldn’t miss out/ The tart also pops up at Storybook Treats, so it’s available whether you’re visiting during the Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party night. It costs $5.79.

First Impressions

Presentation is where this tart earns its keep. The top is finished to look like a playing card, complete with the Queen of Hearts. It is rendered in edible artwork, which is a nice bit of theming for a snack that’s easy to eat in a few bites and walk away with some crumbs on your shirt. It photographs well, which matters a great deal for a treat clearly designed to circulate on social feeds during the first weeks of the season.
Queen of Hearts Tart Review

The crust is the tart’s most confusing element. It has the flake and crumble of a proper pie crust, but the flavor leans closer to a basic cookie. It is sweet enough, along with the frosting, that it’s doing a lot of the dessert’s heavy lifting before you ever reach the filling. The sour cherry pie filling itself brings a mild tartness. Still, it’s not aggressive enough to cut through that sweet exterior, so the overall effect skews more “cookie with some cherry” than the tangy, pucker-inducing bite the name implies. We get that it is technically a tart. Still, we experience “cookie.”
It’s not a bad snack by any measure, but if you’re hoping for the filling to fight back against the crust the way the Queen of Hearts might fight an unfavorable croquet match, temper your expectations. This is a treat for guests who want dessert to taste like dessert, not for guests chasing genuine sour-cherry punch.
The Queen of Hearts Tart is a solid grab-and-go option if you’re doing a Cheshire Café stop anyway or trick-or-treating your way past Storybook Treats. It is easily one of the better-looking snacks on this year’s menu. Just know going in that “sour cherry” here means “gently tart cherry jam wrapped in a sugar cookie,” not a dessert that’s going to make you squint.
