Calling all witches, wizards, and muggles alike! As the film adaptation of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone marks its monumental 25th Anniversary and anticipation reaches a fever pitch for the upcoming HBO Original Series, Warner Bros. Discovery has unveiled its plans for the Back to Hogwarts 2026 celebration.

This September 1st tradition, marking the exact day Hogwarts students board the Hogwarts Express, is officially expanding into an international, multi-week extravaganza spanning live events, theatrical re-releases, studio tour magic, and exclusive experiences at Universal theme parks worldwide. Here is everything you need to know about this year’s incredible wizarding lineup!

25 Years of Magic on the Big Screen

To honor 25 years of cinematic wizardry, all eight original films will return to theatres worldwide for a limited one-week engagement from August 27th through September 3rd. The theatrical release of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone / Philosopher’s Stone will feature an extra 12 minutes of exclusive, never-before-seen behind-the-scenes content debuting on the big screen. Tickets go on sale July 31st, so set your alarms before they sell out! Additionally, fans in Los Angeles, Dallas, Atlanta, and Detroit can experience the film in Shared Reality inside COSM’s massive LED domes. Also, there will be brand-new Harry Potter popcorn buckets as a part of this celebration.

Universal Parks & Resorts are going all-out from August 1st through September 1st to bring the wizarding world to life:

  • Universal Orlando Resort: Guests can enjoy exclusive 25th-anniversary offerings, including a limited-edition Butterbeer Mug (while supplies last), special food and beverage options, and the return of the fan-favorite Hogwarts Always castle projection show in Hogsmeade.
  • Universal Studios Hollywood: Parkgoers will encounter a thrilling new interaction with the Monster Book of Monsters, enjoy House Pride giveaways, and indulge in themed treats.
  • Exclusive Lug Collection: Both Universal Orlando Resort and Universal Studios Hollywood will debut the brand-new, park-exclusive Build-A-Bag collection by Lug, allowing fans to customize their own wizarding style.
  • Universal Beijing Resort: Debuting its own Hogwarts Always projection show, Beijing will host a special Gathering Night event on August 28th alongside exclusive photo opportunities and merchandise.
  • Universal Studios Japan: Offering exclusive after-hours access to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter™ for select guests on September 1st, plus the return of the popular Hogwarts Castle Walk.

“New for 2026, Warner Bros. Studio Tour London – The Making of Harry Potter will mark Back to Hogwarts with a special 11:00am announcement broadcast throughout the Tour. Following the opening announcement, additional broadcasts will take place every 30 minutes at Platform 9¾ throughout the day.”

  • Warner Bros. Studio Tour London: Features animatronic Hagrid demonstrations, complimentary Hogwarts Train Tickets with Summer Feature Activity Passports, a digital quiz in the Butterbeer Café, and an exclusive sweepstakes to win a personalized trunk signed by Bonnie Wright, Mark Williams, James Phelps, and Oliver Phelps. HBO Max will host a first-of-its-kind flagship event in Central London on September 1st to offer fans new glimpses into the upcoming HBO Original series Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, debuting this Christmas.

Important Fan Note: Organizers remind fans that there will be no official event, countdown, or announcement at King’s Cross Station on September 1st, and fans are strongly advised not to travel there.

Other global live festivities include:

  • Paris, France: A mass wand lesson at the Orangerie Gardens of the Château de Versailles led by choreographer Paul Harris.
  • Venice, Italy: An exclusive celebratory screening.
  • International Fan Festivities: Events taking place across Madrid, Berlin, Sydney, and China (featuring the popular ‘Owl Messenger’ installation).

Back to Hogwarts 2026 Digital Showcase & Partner Releases

The global Back to Hogwarts 2026 celebration will culminate with the annual Back to Hogwarts Showcase, streaming live on September 1st across the official Harry Potter YouTube and TikTok channels, featuring major news and surprises from across the franchise. Mobile games Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery and Harry Potter: Puzzles & Spells will launch limited-time in-game events, while merchandise partners including LEGO, The Noble Collection, Rubies, Colgate, and Hallmark will roll out commemorative 25th-anniversary products.
