Major League Baseball has officially found its pairing on a sub roll. To kick off the second half of the baseball season, they are launching a major promotional deal that will have baseball fans craving free food every weekend.

Starting today, Friday, July 17, Firehouse Subs is launching the new MLB Firehouse Subs deal “Extra Innings, Extra Subs.” Here is how the promotion works:

  • How to Redeem: The MLB Firehouse Subs deal deal is redeemable the following Monday through Wednesday via the Firehouse Subs app or on Firehousesubs.com using the promo code EXTRA.
  • The Trigger: Any time an MLB game goes into extra innings on a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday.
  • The Reward: Guests can buy one medium sub and get a second medium sub completely free.

Beyond the Plate: Investing in Youth and Communities

The partnership represents the first national sports league deal in the 31-year history of Firehouse Subs. In addition to feeding hungry baseball fans, the restaurant brand will take on a major role in MLB’s youth initiatives.

Firehouse Subs will now serve as the Official Partner of the MLB PLAY BALL initiative and the Presenting Partner of MLB Pitch, Hit & Run. PLAY BALL, which launched in 2015 under Commissioner of Baseball Robert D. Manfred, Jr., encourages kids to participate in casual baseball and softball activities. Meanwhile, Pitch, Hit & Run, celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2026, allows boys and girls ages 7–14 to showcase their skills, with the finals taking place at the World Series presented by Capital One.

Quotes

Leaders from both brands shared their excitement over the partnership:

“We weren’t looking for just any sports partnership, we were looking for the right one,” said Carolina Berti, Chief Marketing Officer at Firehouse Subs. “Baseball is that partner: a sport built on community, and a brand built to serve one. Together we’re launching ‘Extra Innings Extra Subs,’ a way for us to share more of our delicious subs back to the communities that show up for us all season long. And through MLB’s youth programs – PLAY BALL and Pitch, Hit & Run – we get to invest in the next generation of fans across the U.S. and Canada.”

“This new partnership with Firehouse Subs highlights some of the most important efforts that MLB undertakes outside our ballparks and some of the most exciting moments that take place on our diamonds,” said Uzma Rawn Dowler, MLB Chief Marketing Officer & Senior Vice President, Global Corporate Partnerships. “From PLAY BALL and Pitch, Hit & Run to ‘Extra Innings, Extra Subs,’ Firehouse is sliding into our partnership headfirst, and we can’t wait to see it come to life across MLB’s robust media platforms.”

Supporting First Responders and Enjoying New Eats

While Firehouse Subs is stepping up to the plate with MLB, the brand is keeping its core community values at the forefront. A portion of every purchase at U.S. Firehouse Subs locations will continue to benefit the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation®, which has awarded over $115 million in lifesaving equipment and resources to first responders and public safety organizations across North America.

The timing of the partnership also aligns with a tasty new menu rollout. Fans can now try the new Smokin’ Honey Melts, which come with grilled chicken or steak and feature a signature chipotle sauce that is smoky, subtly sweet, and packed with just the right amount of heat.
