The new Supergirl Insomnia Cookies have officially arrived, bringing comic book-inspired colors and flavors to the popular late-night bakery chain. Created to celebrate the upcoming Supergirl film, the limited-time lineup includes two filled cookies: Red Velvet Revenge and Lemon Solar Punch. At $3.29 each in Florida, these cookies offer a fun tie-in for movie fans and dessert lovers alike. After trying both flavors, we came away with the same conclusion: they’re perfectly fine cookies, but neither one rises to the level of a must-have limited-time release. They aren’t bad by any stretch. In fact, both are enjoyable. The problem is that neither delivers the kind of memorable flavor punch that justifies a special trip.

What Is Insomnia Cookies?

For readers unfamiliar with the brand, Insomnia Cookies is a bakery chain known for serving warm cookies late into the night. Founded near the University of Pennsylvania in 2003, the company has grown into a nationwide favorite thanks to its fresh-baked cookies, ice cream, brownies, cookie cakes, and delivery service. Insomnia frequently partners with entertainment brands to create limited-time menu offerings, and the Supergirl promotion is the latest example. The two specialty cookies are available for a limited time leading up to the film’s release.

Red Velvet Revenge – Price: $3.29

Red Velvet Revenge is visually striking. The red velvet cookie is stuffed with a bright blue sugar cookie dough filling and topped with red velvet crumbles, creating a color scheme that instantly evokes Supergirl’s costume. Unfortunately, the flavor doesn’t quite match the presentation. The red velvet cookie itself is soft and pleasant with light cocoa notes, while the sugar cookie dough center adds sweetness. However, the filling contributes more visual appeal than actual flavor impact. It’s a good cookie. It’s just not a memorable one. If someone handed us this cookie, we’d happily finish it. We just wouldn’t immediately order another.

Lemon Solar Punch – Price: $3.29

Of the two Supergirl Insomnia Cookies, Lemon Solar Punch is the stronger offering. This cookie combines a lemon-flavored cookie with a strawberry jam center and a toasted honey crumble topping. The lemon provides a pleasant citrus brightness, while the strawberry filling creates a fruity contrast that helps distinguish the flavor profile.

The honey crumble adds a bit of texture, though it doesn’t dramatically elevate the overall experience. While this cookie still falls short of becoming a standout seasonal release, it offers a clearer identity than Red Velvet Revenge and ultimately delivers the better overall bite.

The Supergirl Insomnia Cookies succeed as fun movie-themed desserts. Still, neither cookie achieves superhero status.

Red Velvet Revenge wins on appearance, while Lemon Solar Punch takes the crown for flavor. Both cookies are enjoyable enough, and the $3.29 price point feels fair for a filled specialty cookie. Still, neither cookie provides the kind of bold flavor that makes us want to rush back for another round. If you’re already visiting Insomnia Cookies or planning to see Supergirl, they’re worth trying. Just keep your expectations in check. The Supergirl Insomnia Cookies are good filled cookies with fun movie tie-in appeal, but neither flavor delivers a truly super experience.
