Disney Food Review: The Landscape of Flavors Pastry That Sounds Amazing but Fails to Deliver

The Chocolate Marshmallow Hazelnut Croissant at Walt Disney World sounds like a win, but poor execution and a dry texture mean you should spend your $6.49 elsewhere.

Over recent days, the filled croissants at the Walt Disney World Resort hotel food courts have gained notoriety. In fairness, Walt Disney World rolls out filled croissants on a regular basis. In most cases, they fail to impress. However, occasionally, they shine. Thus, we made a trip to Disney’s Art of Animation to visit Landscape of Flavors, the food court there. Our mission involved trying the Chocolate Marshmallow Hazelnut Croissant, which costs $6.49.
Chocolate Marshmallow Hazelnut Croissant Review

This compelling concept falls short on execution. Additionally, our visit started with a labeling problem. So we say, buyer beware.

We went to pick up the Chocolate Marshmallow Hazelnut Croissant from the food court bakery case. Sadly, the items labeled “Chocolate Marshmallow Hazelnut Croissant” were not even croissants. A cast member had to intervene to sort it out. Plan extra time at the counter if you are hunting down this specific treat.
There’s a genuinely appealing idea buried inside the Chocolate Marshmallow Hazelnut Croissant at Landscape of Flavors, located at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort. According to the official Walt Disney World menu description, this pastry features chocolate-hazelnut ganache, toasted marshmallow, and graham cracker pieces. The combination of chocolate, toasted marshmallow, and hazelnut sounds like an absolute bakery case win. At $6.49, the price isn’t unreasonable for a Walt Disney World Resort pastry. The problem is that the actual execution doesn’t deliver on that descriptive promise.
First Warning Sign

The first warning sign comes before you even take a bite: the croissant resists cutting. Despite Landscape of Flavors being one of the few quick-service food courts at Walt Disney World to offer real silverware, the pastry put up a serious fight. That structural resistance translates directly to the eating experience. This is a dry croissant, and dryness is its defining characteristic
Also, the heavy toppings make this too messy to pick up and eat by hand, but it’s also a struggle to cut. Lean into the real silverware available at Landscape of Flavors. You’ll need it, and give yourself a sturdy surface to work on.
With our Chocolate Marshmallow Hazelnut Croissant, the chocolate aroma is completely real. However, the flavor doesn’t follow through with the same confidence. Chocolate chips make for an interesting textural call, though they feel slightly disconnected from the overall profile rather than smoothly integrated into it. The marshmallow topping is fine, nothing more. It adds visual appeal and a bit of surface sweetness but contributes little that feels distinctive.

Hazelnut fans will likely be the most disappointed of all. For an item named with the ingredient, the hazelnut presence is surprisingly quiet. It completely lacks the depth or prominence to justify entitling the croissant as such. When the standout component of a pastry barely registers on the palate, something has gone wrong in the final balance.
While individual batches at resort food courts can vary, our experience aligns closely with other colleagues’ recent reviews. The balance of components seems to be a major hurdle for this new addition.
The Breakdown

What Works
- Appealing chocolate aroma on approach
- Interesting use of chocolate chips for texture
- Creative concept for a resort bakery item
- Real silverware available at the venue to tackle the mess
What Doesn’t
- Dry texture – the biggest obstacle to enjoying the pastry
- Hazelnut flavor is barely present or buried
- Marshmallow topping underwhelms on flavor distinction
- Mislabeled in the bakery case, causing ordering friction
- Difficult to cut and remarkably messy to eat
Chocolate Marshmallow Hazelnut Croissant: Hard to Recommend

The dryness alone is enough to give this one a pass on future visits. With the mislabeling issue adding an extra layer of frustration before you even get to eating it, this croissant needs significant structural and flavor improvement before it earns a permanent spot on your Landscape of Flavors order. Spend your $6.49 elsewhere on the Art of Animation menu or elsewhere. It is tough to recommend a below-average sweet treat when a Gideon’s Bakehouse cookie costs about the same.
