Theme park fans, brace yourselves for the ultimate elemental clash. SeaWorld Orlando is heating things up and freezing things over simultaneously with the grand opening of Expedition Odyssey: Fire & Ice on Monday, May 25, 2026.

This high-tech attraction brings a dramatic, dual-environment transformation to the park’s recently opened flying theater simulator ride. Just when guests thought they had fully explored the icy terrains of the original Arctic simulator, SeaWorld Orlando is flipping the script by introducing the fierce power of volcanic heat. A few weeks ago, the theme park hosted a “final ride” media event for the previous iteration of the attraction, paving the way for a major, story-driven overhaul.

The updated Expedition Odyssey: Fire & Ice attraction is supposed to reimagine the queue, pre-show, and ride media into an immersive scientific adventure. Guests will step directly into an active Arctic research outpost, winding through a refurbished hangar and research station packed with cutting-edge tools, props, and technology that make it look like a true facility at the North Pole.

Before boarding a prototype research drone craft, a lead scientist delivers a final briefing detailing the intense natural phenomena you’ll face. From there, riders launch into a high-definition cinematic journey through an erupting volcano, towering mountain peaks, massive icebergs, and rushing waterfalls.

“We are introducing a brand-new entry experience, a themed pre-show, and an entirely new immersive, story-driven, high-definition attraction designed to deliver a visually compelling, transportive journey and leave them awestruck,” said Justin Newton, senior vice president of project delivery for United Parks & Resorts.

The Expedition Odyssey: Fire & Ice experience doesn’t end when the simulator stops. After the ride, Expedition Odyssey Fire & Ice transitions guests into a real-world encounter with live Arctic wildlife, including stunning beluga whales, penguins, and massive walruses
