As Universal Orlando Resort’s Mardi Gras: International Flavors of Carnaval kicks into high gear for the 2026 season, the celebration once again extends beyond the parks and into Universal CityWalk Orlando. As such, Voodoo Doughnut is serving up a festive, limited-time treat that captures the flavors and spirit of New Orleans. Enter the Mardi Gras 2026 Doughnut, a colorful, indulgent creation that blends classic Southern sweetness with Voodoo Doughnut’s signature flair.

Voodoo Doughnut

Available throughout the Mardi Gras event that runs through April 4, this seasonal doughnut is priced at $4.50 and joins Voodoo Doughnut’s rotating lineup of holiday and event-inspired offerings that keep fans checking the case year-round. Of course, the mystery was going to be when and if the Mardi Gras 2026 Doughnut was available on the opening day of the event. Based on the low success rate at previous seasonal events, such as Halloween Horrror Nights, Holidays, and Passholder Bonus Days, we did not expect the Mardi Gras 2026 Doughnut to be available on time.

To our surprise, the doughnut was displayed and available when we arrived around 10:00 a.m. We were so glad that we got this.

What Is the Mardi Gras 2026 Doughnut?

Mardi Gras 2026 Doughnut

The Mardi Gras 2026 Doughnut is a raised yeast bar doughnut, filled with pecan praline velvet (filling) and topped with a celebratory finish that feels right at home during Carnaval season. The doughnut is dipped in vanilla icing and finished with decorative elements inspired by “Mardi Gras memories,” creating a nostalgic, festive presentation that instantly stands out in the display case. While Voodoo Doughnut is known for its over-the-top creations, this one leans more refined than outrageous, putting flavor first while still delivering the colorful personality guests expect.

First Impressions and Presentation

Mardi Gras 2026 Doughnut

Visually, the Mardi Gras 2026 Doughnut checks all the boxes. The classic raised bar shape offers a generous surface for icing, and the smooth vanilla glaze provides a clean canvas for its Mardi Gras-inspired finish. The obvious Mardi Gras decorative touches evoke the purple, green, and gold tones traditionally associated with the celebration, making this doughnut feel instantly seasonal without being overwhelming.

It’s a polished look, festive enough to feel special, but restrained enough to appeal to guests who may not want something overly gimmicky. Sitting behind the glass at Voodoo Doughnut’s CityWalk location, it’s the kind of item that catches your eye even if you weren’t planning to order dessert.

Taste Test: Sweet, Nutty, and Comforting

The real star of the Mardi Gras 2026 Doughnut is its pecan praline velvet filling. Rich, smooth, and unmistakably Southern, the filling delivers warm notes of caramelized sugar and toasted pecans, echoing the flavors of classic New Orleans pralines. It’s sweet without being overwhelming, with a creamy texture that contrasts nicely with the light, airy doughnut itself.

The raised bar doughnut provides a soft, pillowy base that holds up well to the generous filling. Each bite offers a satisfying balance of dough, cream, and icing. No single element overpowers the others. Additionally, the balance of filling with the other components works very well

The vanilla icing adds just enough sweetness and familiarity, grounding the more complex praline flavors. It’s simple, but that simplicity works in the doughnut’s favor, allowing the filling to shine while still delivering that classic doughnut shop experience.

How It Fits Into Mardi Gras at Universal Orlando

While much of the Mardi Gras food focus at Universal Orlando Resort centers on global booths and savory Cajun-inspired dishes inside Universal Studios Florida, the Mardi Gras 2026 Doughnut at Voodoo Doughnut offers a perfect dessert stop just outside the parks.

Its pecan praline profile feels especially appropriate for the season, connecting the dots between New Orleans tradition and Universal’s more playful dining locations. It also makes for a great post-park treat, whether you’re wrapping up a day of concerts, parade viewing, or simply strolling CityWalk in the evening.

Value and Availability

At $4.50, the Mardi Gras 2026 Doughnut sits comfortably within Voodoo Doughnut’s typical price range and feels like an okay value for a filled, event-exclusive item. The portion is generous, making it easy to share, though fans of praline flavors may not want to. Annual pass discounts do apply.

Like other seasonal offerings, availability is tied to the Mardi Gras event, which runs daily through April 4, 2026. Once the celebration ends, this doughnut is expected to disappear from the menu, adding urgency for fans of limited-time Universal treats.
