Busch Gardens King Cake is a major upgrade for Mardi Gras 2026, featuring a mini-bundt-style cake, authentic texture, and a massive amount of colorful icing that guests will definitely remember.

When you think Mardi Gras, you think beads, brass bands, and KING CAKE, the sweet, celebratory treat that’s basically a rite of passage in New Orleans. At Busch Gardens Tampa Bay’s Mardi Gras event (running Saturdays and Sundays through March 1, 2026), you’ll find tons of Cajun and festival fare, including this year’s Mardi Gras King Cake at various Mardi Gras cabins throughout the park — and oh boy, what a difference a year makes!

Last year’s attempt at this classic was… let’s just say serviceable. It was basically a tasty Publix doughnut masquerading as Mardi Gras royalty. Fun at 10:00 a.m., but not exactly fit to parade down Bourbon Street. This year? Busch Gardens actually levelled up.

The 2026 version tastes much closer to a real king cake, denser than a donut and shaped more like a mini-bundt cake, with a festive crown of purple, green, and gold icing that makes it look downright regal. Okay, maybe not regal but royalty on a bad hair day. While it’s not literally flown in from New Orleans, it’s a significant improvement in texture and presentation.
Busch Gardens King Cake Impressions

Texture:
Unlike last year’s airy donut vibe, this cake has a sturdier crumb that actually feels proper, closer to what you’d expect from a king cake that hasn’t lost its Mardi Gras soul on the way to Florida.
Icing:
If you like icing, and let’s be honest, that’s basically the point of cake, you’re in for a good time. There’s plenty of it. So much, in fact, that you might find yourself scraping it off your fingers as you’ve just stumbled into a glitter confetti cannon. Sugar rush? Guaranteed.

Flavor:
Not super-spiced or funky, but sweet and festive. This should be a crowd-pleaser with plenty of visual appeal. It’s not the most authentic New Orleans king cake you’ll ever try, but it’s miles ahead of a generic carnival treat and way more satisfying than last year’s sugary dough swirl.
In fairness, we would not pay the $8.99 à la carte price. However, with the sampler lanyard bringing the price down to $7 or less, this makes an okay choice value-wise,
Pro Tips for Guests

- Grab one early in the day: Mardi Gras cabins open around noon on weekends, and supply can vary by date. Food & beverage sampler lanyards are available if you want to taste more than one item without breaking the bank. Guests can get a five-item sampler for $34.95
- Come with friends: You’ll want someone to help with all that icing. It’s sticky in the most celebratory possible way.
- Perfect for photos: It’s vibrantly colored and big on personality. It is classy enough for Instagram, goofy enough for a crazy parade pic.
Busch Gardens King Cake

For Busch Gardens Mardi Gras 2026, the Busch Gardens King Cake stands tall in the festival lineup. This makes a genuine step up from last year’s donut-light contender. It’s sweet, festive, and stuffed with enough icing to make a Mardi Gras krewe proud. If you’re strolling through the festivities, this mini-bundt marvel is worth a “taste-and-a-half” stop — just bring wet wipes.
