Enjoy our lighthearted Cranberry Oatmeal Cookie review from Epcot Festival of the Holidays, looking at flavor, texture, and vegan appeal.

Epcot Festival of the Holidays

The holidays are here, which means Epcot is once again serving up cookies, cocoa, and enough sugar to make the reindeer jitter. Naturally, when we heard Holiday Hearth Desserts inside the Odyssey Building had a new plant-based Cranberry-Oatmeal Cookie, we marched over like it was a limited-edition spirit jersey drop.

A vegan cookie with festive sparkles? A cranberry-oat combo that screams “holiday cheer”? A treat eligible for the Cookie Stroll stamp? Sign us up, we thought.

Well… we thought incorrectly.

Cranberry Oatmeal Cookie First Impressions: Festive, Sparkly, and Hard Enough to Rattle Your MagicBand

At first glance, this cookie looks adorable. It glitters and shimmers. It says “eat me, I’m whimsical.” Still, much like holiday photos on Instagram, appearances can be misleading.

We picked ours up at noon on opening day—aka the moment treats should be at peak freshness. Instead, this cookie was as hard as the wait for the old Tron Virtual Queue callback. One colleague tried to break it and accidentally invented a new percussion instrument. Another compared it to a crunchy granola bar cosplaying as a cookie. If you’re expecting a warm, gooey, soft oatmeal cookie? Sweetie, no. This thing snaps like a gingerbread roof in a Florida thunderstorm.

About the Cranberry Flavor… Anyone Seen It?

Cranberry Oatmeal Cookie

We hunted for cranberry flavor the way holiday shoppers hunt for parking spaces, desperately, with determination, and absolutely in vain.

It’s “there,” technically. Nonetheless, it hides in the background like that coworker who joins Zoom meetings with the camera off. Mostly, this cookie tastes like plain oatmeal, with the cranberry just waving politely from the sidelines. In our cookie, we found only one spot container cranberry.

Good News: It Is Vegan. Bad News: So Are Many Granola Bars

To be fair, the cookie is:

  • Plant-based
  • $3.50
  • Eligible for the Holiday Cookie Stroll stamp

So yes—it checks the boxes. Especially the crunchy ones.

If you love granola bars? Congratulations. You just found your new favorite “cookie.”
If you have sensitive teeth? Buddy, skip this and go get yourself literally any other dessert in Epcot.

Look—we wanted to love this. We walked in cheering. We walked out feeling like we’d just gone twelve rounds with a holiday-themed protein bar. It’s festive, sparkly, and plant-based. However, it’s also hard, lightly flavored, and suspiciously close to being a crunchy breakfast item in disguise.

If your sweet tooth loves a challenge, give it a try. However, if you prefer softer cookies and desserts? Holiday Hearth has plenty of other options that won’t require dental insurance.

2025 Epcot International Festival of the Holidays

The EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays, running typically from late November through December, is a vibrant global celebration of seasonal traditions. World Showcase pavilions host Holiday Storytellers who share unique cultural customs, like Norway’s mischievous Barn Santa or France’s Père Noël.

The Candlelight Processional is a highlight, featuring a celebrity narrator, a 50-piece orchestra, and a massive choir retelling the Christmas story. Guests can also savor international festive cuisine at the numerous Holiday Kitchens and participate in the fun Holiday Cookie Stroll or Olaf’s Holiday Tradition Expedition scavenger hunt. Additionally, the festival is included with regular park admission, making it a favorite way to experience holiday cheer.
