Get ready to grab your wands and festive cheer. The Harry Potter Shops in New York and Chicago have officially kicked off their holiday season transformation, immersing fans in a whimsical, ‘Snow Globe’ themed experience complete with exclusive merchandise, interactive activities, and — most importantly — the introduction of Harry Potter Hot Butterbeer for the first time ever at these retail locations. Fans visiting this season finally get to experience the beloved warm beverage.

Finally! Harry Potter Hot Butterbeer Makes Its Debut

Fans have been craving the warm, cozy version of the Wizarding World’s most famous beverage, and the wait is nearly over.

Starting November 12, guests at both the New York and Chicago shops can sip on the new Hot Butterbeer all season long. To celebrate the launch of the Harry Potter Hot Butterbeer, the stores are hosting a special one-week event:

  • Free Treat: The first 100 customers in both stores on November 12 will receive a free Hot Butterbeer with free toppings.
  • Toppings Bar: From November 12–19, a special toppings bar will be available, featuring delectable additions like Butterbeer Caramel Sauce, Butterbeer Cookie Crumble, Cinnamon Dusting, and Butterbeer Chocolate Frogs. All guests who purchase a Butterbeer during this week will receive free toppings.

In addition to the beloved beverage, both locations will offer limited-time festive treats, including authentic English Mince Pies, Harry & Ron Sweater Cookies, and location-specific goodies like Peppermint Chocolate Frog Mousse (NY) and Pumpkin Tarts (CHI).

Step Inside the Snow Globe: Interactive Magic

The entire store experience has been revamped with an enchanting Snow Globe theme, promising fun for wizards, witches, and Muggles.

“The holidays have always been synonymous with Harry Potter, so we’re delighted to invite fans… to experience the festive magic a new way this year,” said Jack Threlfall, director of operations, US East Coast Retail.

The interactive offerings include:

  • Life-Size Snow Globe Photo Wall: Pose for a magical picture as you step right into a giant snow globe backdrop.
  • Tree Trail Scavenger Hunt: Pick up a map and challenge yourself to follow the trail of themed Christmas trees. Those cracking the secret code receive a special ‘Holidays at Hogwarts’ collectable pin!
  • Complimentary Store Tours: Starting November 12, enjoy a free 20-minute guided tour highlighting the seasonal decor and movie props. Tours run every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 11 AM to 3 PM (starting hourly) until December 24, and are limited to 10 people per tour.
  • Broomstick Adventure (NY Only): Guests in the New York store can take a snowy, virtual flight above Hogwarts and capture the moment with an ornament-framed photo.

Seasonal Shopping & Giving Back

The Harry Potter Shops have unveiled an array of new, limited-edition merchandise perfect for holiday gifting. Look out for items like Hedwig-inspired hoodies, replicas of Mrs. Weasley’s iconic Christmas jumpers, Hogsmeade Christmas mini snow globes, and ‘Hogwarts in the Snow’ mugs.

Finally, in the true spirit of Dobby the House-Elf, fans are invited to participate in a charitable sock donation. From November 12 through December 24, guests can bring a new, packaged pair of socks to any register. The shops are partnering with local charities (Cradles to Crayons in Chicago and Knock Knock Give a Sock in New York) to help spread warmth this season.
