HHN 2025 Orlando: Mike Aiello tells EW about terrifying new haunted houses, from Five Nights at Freddy’s to Jason Universe.

Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights (HHN), the premier annual scare event held at Universal Studios Florida in Orlando, returns in 2025 with more terror than ever. Starting August 29, Orlando’s HHN promises an unforgettable mix of iconic franchises and original nightmares, designed to assault every sense, including sight, sound, scent, and touch.
Spanning multiple haunted houses, scare zones, live shows, and more, HHN is not just an event. It’s a full-throttle plunge into horror that begins as the sun sets and runs through early November. In recent interviews with the HHN 2025 Orlando creative team, we have learned far more about the Halloween Horror Nights houses opening next week.
Five Nights at Freddy’s: When Animatronics Attack

As HHN 2025 Orlando flames grow brighter, Five Nights at Freddy’s (FNAF) emerges as a standout house. Drawing from the popular 2023 film, Blumhouse’s highest-grossing to date, this attraction is a direct portal into nightmare-inducing animatronic terror. In collaboration with Jim Henson’s Creature Shop, Universal has created exact, life-sized recreations of Freddy, Foxy, Bonnie, Chica, and the Cupcake, a terrifyingly uncanny step beyond screens into your personal space.
The experience is immersive: you walk through the haunted corridors of Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza, including the security room and showroom, only to be stalked by these animatronics. Freddy even steps forward and swipes at guests. At Orlando, this haunted house is set in Soundstage 23, internally codenamed “Lily,” a fitting nod to themes of possessed rebirth and revenge rooted in the lore of children’s spirits animating these murderous creations.
Fallout: A Post-Apocalyptic Tease from Season 2

New in HHN 2025 is a Fallout-themed haunted house, a terrifying journey into the post-apocalyptic world made famous by Amazon Prime Video’s hit adaptation in 2024. We have learned that guests traverse through iconic series locations such as Ma June’s Sundries, underground bunkers, and the New California Republic headquarters. Adding to the thrill, Universal collaborated with Amazon to incorporate a secret Season 2 character, offering fans an early, exclusive glimpse of the next chapter, preceding its debut on December 17, 2025.
Jason Universe: A Slasher Gauntlet

Another spine-chilling Orlando exclusive is “Jason Universe,” inspired by the notorious slasher Friday the 13th. This new house plunges visitors into a nostalgic, blood-soaked summer camp complete with creaking floors, a decaying lodge, haunted forests, and plenty of Jasons lurking in the shadows.
Described as a “gauntlet of Jasons” from films 1 through 8, this nightmare march features a chase through iconic scenes such as Camp Crystal Lake, cabins, and a terrifying Horror Inc. mask sequence, a relentless, high-octane fright fest.
Terrifier: Gore, Smell, and Endless Disgust for HHN 2025 Orlando

For those who thrill in gross-out horror, Terrifier is not just a house. It’s an entire olfactory assault. The finale drenches guests in warm water carrying an iron-like “blood” scent, while bleach and salted flesh scents linger in scenes of scalping, according to Mike Aiello. In one infamous sequence, a hacksaw kill mimics Art the Clown’s grotesque cinema moment with the added element of pungent feces scents that cling to everything: clothes, walls, even after the house ends. Lora Sauls recounts how, on a trial run, she was soaked to the core.
WWE: The Horrors of The Wyatt Sicks

Fans of the WWE will not be spared. “WWE Presents: The Horrors of The Wyatt Sicks” is a tribute to the late Bray Wyatt and his haunting character arc, featuring immersive video tunnels, multiple screens showcasing iconic wrestlers, and eerie symbolism like Wyatt’s signature lantern perched atop a chair. This house stands out for its emotional depth paying homage to Wyatt’s legacy while also utilizing multimedia to envelop guests in a surreal, wrestling-themed horror tableau.
Original Nightmares: El Artista, Gálkn, Dolls & More

HHN 2025 goes beyond recognizable franchises with a lineup of original haunted houses, each offering unique, lore-rich terror:
- El Artista: A Spanish Haunting – Set in a 19th-century Spanish manor, this narrative follows a tortured artist whose creations come to life and possess him.
- Gálkn: Monsters of the North – Icy, mythic horrors stalking from the north.
- Dolls: Let’s Play Dead – A creepy, toy-themed nightmare with murderous playthings.
- Hatchet and Chains – Bounty hunters pursing “lava demons” in a fiery, remorseless hunt.
- Grave of Flesh – guests experience their own funeral, are lowered into the underworld, and then hunted by flesh-eating creatures through tight, cavernous tunnels in a permanent pit of torture.
These original concepts deliver fresh narratives, imaginative design, and deeply atmospheric scaries highlighting Universal’s creative ambitions and storytelling range.
Merch Madness: Tribute Store & HamiKuma for HHN 2025 Orlando

Beyond the scare houses, Orlando’s HHN 2025 has also unveiled immersive merchandise experiences. Beginning August 26, visitors can step into a haunted “Museum of Antiquities” Tribute Store complete with creepified exhibit halls and eerie artifacts to pick up event-themed gear. Also, a Japanese fan-favorite character, HamiKuma, an adorably terrifying bear from Universal Studios Japan makes its United States debut with plush hats, popcorn buckets, and more available at both Universal Orlando and Hollywood later this summer.
HHN 2025 Orlando: A Blood-Soaked, Soul-Shaking Spectacle

HHN 2025 Orlando is not just an event. It’s a full-blown sensory takeover. This goes from being stalked by animatronic nightmares at Five Nights at Freddy’s, to the trail of gore, scent, and cinematic terror in Terrifier, to emotional and mythic depth in WWE’s Wyatt Sicks tribute and original houses. It’s a horror smorgasbord like no other. If you crave immersive storytelling, high-octane frights, and avant-garde scare design, HHN 2025 Orlando is the ultimate fall destination.
