The new Stranger Things cookie from CHIPS AHOY! features a fudge and strawberry Rift filling, retro packaging, and an AR game inspired by the Upside Down.

Stanger Things Cookie

This summer, your favorite chocolate chip cookie brand is going full Upside Down. In a sweet and spooky collaboration, CHIPS AHOY! has teamed up with Netflix’s hit series Stranger Things to launch a limited-edition cookie that’s as eerie as it is delicious — just in time to kick off the countdown to the show’s epic final season.

Starting August 11, fans can get their hands on the new CHIPS AHOY! x Stranger Things Limited-Edition Cookie, a flavor-packed treat that brings together nostalgic 1980s vibes and otherworldly design. Featuring a chocolatey cookie base loaded with fudge chips and a red strawberry-flavored filling, the cookie’s visual and flavor profile pays tribute to the show’s iconic “Rifts” — the eerie portals to the Upside Down that have haunted Hawkins, Indiana since Season One. But the experience doesn’t stop with the cookie itself.

Stranger Things Cookie: Packaging from the Past — and the Upside Down

Stranger Things Cookie
Retro-inspired Original CHIPS AHOY! packs harken back to the look and feel of the 1980s CHIPS AHOY! packaging when Stranger Things takes place.

The new packaging might be worth collecting all on its own. In addition to the standard CHIPS AHOY! trays, the Stranger Things edition features retro 1980s branding that echoes the decade when the show is set. The packaging even features a special glow-in-the-dark aspect that feels straight out of Season Two’s flickering-lights panic. Also, it’s a love letter to the era of cassette tapes, arcade games, and walkie-talkies with a supernatural twist.

CHIPS AHOY! is also releasing vintage-style Original cookie packs, styled after real designs from the 1980s. They’ll hit store shelves at the same time as the Stranger Things Limited-Edition variety, making for a delicious double-dose of nostalgia.

Stranger Things and the Halloween Horror Nights Legacy

While Stranger Things is not part of Halloween Horror Nights (HHN) 2025, the franchise’s connection to Universal’s fan-favorite Halloween event runs deep. The series made its HHN debut in 2018, with a haunted house that brought Season One to life. Guests wandered through iconic settings, such as Hawkins Middle School and the Byers’ living room, evading Demogorgons and the sinister pull of the Upside Down. The house was a breakout success and marked one of the first major TV crossovers in HHN history.

The following year, Stranger Things returned to Halloween Horror Nights with an expanded house based on Seasons Two and Three, incorporating scenes from the Hawkins Lab, the Starcourt Mall, and the Mind Flayer’s underground lair. The houses received praise for set design and terrifying atmosphere, helping cement Stranger Things as a cornerstone of HHN’s pop-culture presence. In 2023, Stranger Things came back with a house based on Season Four.

Though it hasn’t been featured at Halloween Horror Nights since 2023, the show’s eerie aesthetic, monster lore, and synth-heavy soundtrack still haunt fans’ memories — making any return (even in cookie form) feel like a Halloween tradition in the making. For 2024, Six Flags Fright Fest Extreme also had a Stranger Things haunted house.

The Final Season Approaches

The timing of this collaboration is no coincidence. With the fifth and final season of Stranger Things set to debut in three volumes later this year, on November 26, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Eve, excitement is at an all-time high. According to Netflix, Season Five is set in the fall of 1987, as Hawkins reels from the open rifts and prepares for a final confrontation with Vecna. As fans brace themselves for emotional goodbyes, high-stakes battles, and one last group mission, CHIPS AHOY! is giving them the perfect snack to enjoy along the way.
