Disney World’s Magic Kingdom rolled out an enchanting preview of its brand-new nighttime spectacle, Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away, with a soft opening dress rehearsal at 9:00 p.m. on July 18, 2025. This was two days before the official launch. This marked the first nightly parade at Magic Kingdom in nearly a decade, rekindling the nostalgic glow of past nighttime experiences.

The parade kicked off with the ethereal magic of the Blue Fairy, weaving together a spellbinding procession of floats representing beloved Disney and Pixar films—from Pinocchio and Wish to Encanto, Frozen, Coco, Moana, and Peter Pan In one standout moment, Isabela from Encanto swung gracefully from floral vines—a stunning debut in a nighttime parade.

Walt Disney World used this soft opening as a “surprise and delight” opportunity for early guests. The presentation wasn’t just for show. It allowed performers, technicians, and parade logistics teams to conduct a full-scale dress rehearsal in front of a public audience.

While the featured performance was a single show at 9:00 p.m. on July 18, Disney has confirmed that stagings will begin at both 9:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. nightly starting July 20, when the parade officially launches. Magic Kingdom’s closing time will also be extended accordingly to accommodate the dual showings. Additionally, Walt Disney World has not confirmed whether a “rehearsal” of the Disney Starlight Parade will take place today, July 19. We will have to wait and see.

As July 20 draws near, guests and Disney fans are gearing up for the grand debut. With its combination of nostalgic flair, modern animation, and immersive theming, Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away promises to light up Main Street, U.S.A., once again. This soft opening of the Disney Starlight Parade suggests it will shine brightly.

NIghttime Parades at Magic Kingdom

Nighttime parades have long been a tradition at Magic Kingdom, blending dazzling lights, iconic music, and beloved characters into a uniquely magical experience. These illuminated spectacles create lasting memories for guests of all ages, with Main Street, U.S.A. serving as the glowing stage for some of Disney’s most visually stunning entertainment.

The tradition began with the legendary Main Street Electrical Parade, which first debuted in 1977 at Walt Disney World and returned in various iterations over the years. With its whimsical synthesized soundtrack and thousands of twinkling lights, it quickly became a fan favorite. Later, SpectroMagic brought a more orchestral, theatrical flair to the nighttime lineup in the 1990s and early 2000s, enchanting viewers with floats themed to classic Disney films.

However, Magic Kingdom has been without a regularly scheduled nighttime parade since 2016, leaving many fans longing for the return of this nostalgic entertainment staple. That’s why the debut of Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away in 2025 has generated so much excitement. The new Disney Starlight Parade combines modern technology with heartfelt storytelling, revitalizing the tradition for a new generation. With glowing floats, energetic performers, and emotional music, Magic Kingdom’s nighttime parades continue to light up the night—and the hearts of Disney fans.
